Meet Poppy

I’ve always wanted a cabin in the mountains! And a lakeside cottage! And a downtown condo in an exciting city! And a riverside shack! And a cabin in the woods by a river! And a beach bungalow! And now I have them!

Meet Poppy, a 2021 Winnebago Travato GL. I'm so happy I found her!

"G" stands for the specific floor plan (there are two Travato floor plans), and "L" stands for Lithium Batteries. Yup, she's a 21st Century Princess!

Lithium means that I can have electricity anywhere. The batteries are recharged by their own alternator, and an hour and a half on the road will bring them to full charge. They can also get a little energy from solar, or from plugging in to "shore power." The cool thing about having their own alternator is that you can set the engine to start and run on a high idle and recharge anywhere. You can even arm it to start while you're away if the batteries get too low.

Kitty Bo in the van, needing A/C? She'll be safe with Poppy providing the cooling!

As for the layout, there is a Murphy bed in the back, which can sleep one very comfortably or two cozily. The dinette and bench seat in the front can convert to another one- or two-person bed. Since it will mostly be just me, but with the strong desire to bring along a companion traveler or two, this is the best situation. I can eat or write at the table when alone, and have a friend enjoy a comfy bed while on a motoring adventure.

Besides lithium battery power, which will keep me comfortable for days no matter where I am, there is a wet bath and a water and air heater that works on propane, electricity, or a combination. Poppy sports a microwave, a refrigerator with separate freezer, and a two-burner stove in the galley, and in the front area, there is a stereo system, a DVD player, and a small TV.

I tell ya, I may never go home again!
